The greatest highlight of Jordan is undoubtedly Petra - a Nabataean city carved in the rocks. Nonetheless there are also other places worth vising such as the ancient Roman city of Jarash, which is one of the largest in the Middle East and a site where interesting cultural events take place. Apart from Pelly and Gadary the antique collection is complemented by an amphitheater in the capital city of Amman which blends surprisingly well with the surrounding modern day architecture. It's not all about history though. The most visited place in Jordan is the Dead Sea - the lowest point on earth and a famous wellness retreat for many around the world. It is less known however that not far from it in the city of Maine is the first spa that has ever been opened in the Middle East. The countdown of best is still far from over though. The oldest map of the Holy Land made up of a mosaic can be seen in Madaba - a city that has become the center of modern Jordanian craftsmanship. Oh and have you ever seen the Jordanian desert...? There are cute Ummayan hunting lodges of Azraq, Qusajr Amra, Qasr al-Charanna or Muscat - some with remarkable frescoes - that were discovered by the first Czech Bedouin Alois Musil, who is widely known throughout Jordan as Musa. Crusader fortresses, the Biblical Mount Nebo, the King's Road from the Dead Sea to Petra, the Coral Sea of Aqaba, the unique Dana Nature Reserve, the breathtaking Wadi Mujib canyon and the fascinating Wadi Rum - these are surely other reasons why you will fall in love with Jordan.
