Zimbabwe is a country that most people percieve in the negative context of economic struggle or political instability however it is worth nothing that it is also a destination with great natural wealth and many tourist attractions. The translation of Zimbabwe's name itself confirms our statement since the word "dzimba-dza-mabwe", translated from the Shona language, means "great stone house". In the past Zimbabwe, just like many other African countries, was under a colonial rule of Great Britain. Today however Zimbabwe is an independant republic moving into a new phase of possibilities and freedom and the number of foreign visitors is increasing year by year.
Visitors from abroad are attracted by the rich fauna, flora and luxury that they will receive in the Victoria Falls hotels despite the country's poor overall economy. A wide range of activities to do in Botswana are supported by very stable and pleasant weather all year round which many climate experts consider to be the most favorable in the world. Among other things tourists will be pleased to know that English is widely spoken practically everywhere in the country. The most attractive location remains the Victoria Falls which literally sit on the border between Botswana and Zambia. This makes Zimbabwe an ideal destination when you want to explore more than a single country at a time.

If you are a foreign national let us know what passport you hold and we will inform you whether or not you are obliged to apply for visa to Zimbabwe.
Citizens of the Czech Republic can enter and stay in the Zimbabwe with a valid tourist visa which you will receive upon arrival at the port of entry (airport). All you have to do is fill in a short form, pay 40USD and wait for the official's stamp in the queue. If you plan to combine your stay with a visit to Botswana or another country you may request a "double-entry" or "multi-entry" visa, which entitles you to a comfortable entry into and from the territory of another country. At the Victoria Falls Airport the whole procedure takes only few minutes.
Zimbabwe is a small country and the focal area for our clients are the Victoria Falls. Therefore the weather information below reflects the weather there. The first thing you may like is the fact that in Zimbabwe you have an average of 8 hours of sun a day. That's something to appreciate during our cold european winters as it allows us to soak up some sun and do plenty of activities during our day.
The hot African summer begins in September and continues until April whereas the winter season begins in May and ends in August. The southern hemisphere is a real paradise for us in the north. Choosing the right season is definitely the most important criterion when visiting Victoria Falls. Although the rain starts to fall by the year's end and everything begins to turn green again, the maximum water levels in rivers and waterfalls aren't reached until early April. The reason is simple- the water that fills these natural jewels is actually coming from the neighbouring Zambia and Angola it and takes several months for the water to reach Zimbabwe. On the other hand, the beginning of summer season (September and November) is ideal for birdwatching along the Zambezi River as well as for inland safaris where animals are visible from afar and concentrate in large numbers around the water sources. If you still want to visit Victoria Falls in winter (Czech summer), pack a jacket for to withstand the cold mornings.
The following chart shows the minimum and maximum air temperatures for Victoria Falls and water level:

Zimbabwe is located in south-east Africa surrounded by Zambia in the northwest, Mozambique in the east, South Africa in the south and Botswana in the southwest. The country is attractive not only because of the world famous Victoria Falls but also thanks to the aforementioned neighborhood with other countries. For it would be shame not to visit some of them whilst in Zimbabwe because let's be honest you do not travel to Africa every day. To illustrate the proximity between the countries let us mention that the Victoria Falls are shared with neighboring Zambia and it is hardly an hour's drive to reach the bushes of Botswana.
The total area of Zimbabwe is 390 000 km2 however the main tourist attractions are grouped around the waterfalls and it is thus sufficient to spend a maximum of 3 days in this area and then move on to one of the neighboring countries. The flight to Zimbabwe from Vienna takes approximately 16 hours including transfer depending on the airlines and selected route.
