About the package
The northernmost island of the Seychelles archipelago is the coral island of Bird formed about 125,000 years ago. It has 5 kilometers of white beaches and 101 hectares of greenery that have been so popular with domestic and migratory birds that from May to October 1.5 million members of this animal kingdom nest here, lay eggs and give birth to the next generation.
Bird Island, Seychelles is home to thousands of tropical birds, giant land tortoises, and breathtaking marine life – a treasure trove for nature lovers. The emphasis is very much on relaxation and informality where visitors can appreciate the conservation of wildlife in the most beautiful, tranquil setting and escape the hassles and chaos of ordinary life. This little island is a true retreat from today’s busy world.
The oldest island inhabitant is named Esmeralda - a 298 kg weighing Turtle born in 1771! Esmeralda has been witnessed the planting of the first palms and ornamental plants, such as the divinely fragrant plumeria. In 2006, 33 new species of birds appeared in the tree, which without Bird's protective arms might have disappeared from our planet forever. He saw 24 cottages growing in the western part of the island, all simply equipped with a shower, fans and mosquito nets. The water for every two cottages is heated by solar energy and there are no lights outside the cottages. There aren't even refrigerators, televisions, telephones or air conditioning in the cottages. Guests are only allowed internet in specific metered conditions. A stay here is a luxurious 100% organic detox.
The biggest friend of Esmeralda and his other 20 relatives (they got here from the island of Aldabra, where over 150,000 of these giants live) is Robby. Four times a week, he tirelessly explains to all new guests what is worth seeing on the island and does not prevent anyone from participating in the turtle conservation program, which began in 1995. On the contrary, he welcomes any help, because turtles require attention for many months. From June to September, Green Turtles come to the island to lay their eggs, and from December to February, very rare Hawksbill's turtles, their favorite home is Passe Coco Beach, where Robby organizes night expeditions for visitors. From December to May, it is then possible to watch thousands of small turtles trying to get quickly into the ocean waters. In the fall, the traffic on Bird is the busiest. Many species of whales come to the warm tropical waters to breed, so everyone who decides to spend at least a few nights on the Bird Island can see these magnificent huge creatures but also dolphins (hundreds of groups are no exception) or sea cows, not to mention the number of crustaceans, octopuses etc. Bird Island is simply something you will experience once in a lifetime.
