About the package

Before Oman became the country it is today, most of its inhabitants lived a very traditional and modest life on the edge of the Rub Al Khali dessert. And although the new era caused many of the original Bedouins to move to cities, they still miss the desert. Some have decided to link the return to the past with business, which is also the case with the original accommodation in the Souly Lodge near Salalah in southern Oman. Traditional seaside cottages, called barasti in the Gulf, have been improved for traveling purposes, hence the Souly Lodges have become a unique haven for those who want to get to know Oman more intimately. All 15 bungalows are covered with thatched palm leaves, the cozy interior is furnished with hand-carved furniture, and the open stone-covered shower provides great refreshment under the stars. Everything you see in the lodge is ecological. Solar energy provides electricity, hot water and functional internet. The energy-saving system guarantees minimal water consumption. Local restaurant uses own raw ingredients and all cosmetics in the bathroom are organic. It can be said that the only modern element is the huge windshield of each bungalow, which guarantees stunning panoramic views of the ocean, sunrises and sunsets. The kitchen focuses on local dishes, which includes mainly rice, vegetables, meat, fish and fruit, but the owners can flexibly respond to dietary requirements and allergy problems. The center of Souly Lodge are three Bedouin tents around a fireplace, where the Arabian lute will be heard by sunset. The air smells of Arabic coffee with cardamom and the smell of hookahs. During the sardine season fishermen can be seen by the sea, and at the waterhole Khor Souly where camels, foxes and birds like to gather and sip water. It is not uncommon to see dolphins while swimming in the sea, and if you want to enjoy Oman to the fullest, you can go on excursions to archaeological sites, geysers and the deep desert on safari after extensive diving or snorkeling. The bungalow consists of a main room with a living area and an equipped veranda. The bungalow adjoins an outdoor stone shower and the bathroom is connected to the toilet. All bungalows have air conditioning and Wi-Fi connection, electric kettle, organic cosmetics, minibar, sun lounger and a parasol. All bungalow furnishings were hand carved in wood, knitted or woven from local materials, so the bungalow's appearance fully reflects the local tradition and taste. Overlooking the sea and mountains, the bungalows are soundproofed and non-smoking. The bungalow can accommodate up to three people, including a child with or without an extra bed.

Meal Plans

Guests can enjoy traditional local cuisine including rice, vegetables, fruits, seafood and meat in a variety of ways. The menu also includes a lot of fruit juices whilst the café serves traditional Arabic coffee with cardamom and refreshing hibiscus tea. Souly reacts flexibly in case of allergies or various dietary restrictions. In accordance with local tradition, no alcohol is served in Souly  Lodges.
